Jones Celebrates Topping Out Ceremony for New Headquarters

Jones recently celebrated the Topping Out Ceremony for its new headquarters on July 11 signifying the completion of the structural framework of the building. The event included a beam signing ceremony during which everyone involved with the project had the opportunity to place their signature on the beam. Participants included construction workers, project partners, government officials, and Jones employees.  

“We are excited to be here and celebrate the last piece of the metal frame going into the Jones headquarters,” said Jonathan Jones, CEO of Jones Capital. “We have worked on the design phases of this building for about six years, so it’s very fulfilling for me and many of us who have been part of this project to finally see this building coming out of the ground. 

“This building is going to give men and women graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi a place to work and thrive as adults in Hattiesburg. This building will also provide more office jobs to Mississippians in addition to the many manufacturing jobs that already exist in the state. I hope the Jones Headquarters helps elevate our community, makes Mississippi a better place to live and work, and stimulates other businesses to do what we are doing.” 

Area Development Partnership leaders said a building this size will have a positive impact on the surrounding community. 

“The impact of this project on the entire community, not just Midtown really can’t be overstated,” said Todd Jackson, executive vice president. "To have a facility of this quality and this size employing this many people in the heart of our community is just transformational.” 

Jackson said businesses like this reflect the original plan for Midtown. 

“This goes back a decade or more, with the Midtown in Motion Master Plan and community leaders coming together at that time and kind of putting a vision in front of everyone one of what we wanted collectively for this area to look like,” Jackson said. “So, today’s celebration is the fruit of all of that labor from a long time ago.” 

The new space, located behind The District at Midtown, will house eight companies and provide approximately 300 new jobs. The building is expected to be completed in Fall 2024.
