Jones Capital recently hosted a talent development program, "Choose to Defuse: Conflict Resolution in the Heat of Battle," led by Dr. Lavon Gray of
Blue Hen Agency. This session is part of the Jones Leadership Academy: Mini Series, designed as a refresher for all Jones employees. This Mini Series aims to revisit key content from the Jones Leadership Academy. The session equipped participants with essential skills to effectively manage workplace conflicts.
The mini-series focused on several key objectives, including:
1. Identifying four steps to resolve workplace conflict
2. Recognizing and applying the five conflict resolution styles of the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode
3. Utilizing a collaborative problem-solving approach
4. Leading challenging conversations
5. Promoting healthy workplace culture through relationship-building
Jonathan Jones, CEO of Jones Capital, emphasized the importance of vulnerability in leadership development: “True leaders excel by cultivating self-awareness, mastering communication, and building genuine relationships. And at the heart of these relationships lies the courage to be vulnerable."
Dr. Gray stressed the need for humility in leadership stating, "Effective leadership requires the humility to acknowledge potential mistakes, even when we're confident in our decisions. It demands an open mind to truly hear feedback, and the courage to revisit and revise our approach when necessary."
Participants praised the practical nature of the session, with many noting the immediate applicability of the strategies discussed. The success of this mini-series underscores Jones Leadership Academy's commitment to developing well-rounded, effective leaders equipped to handle the challenges of today's dynamic workplace environments.
