Payroll Manager


Overview

The mission of the Jones Pipeline Services finance team is to be trusted business partners to company operations and company management.  This is accomplished by informing, supporting, collaborating and problem solving with our colleagues. Critical to the mission is ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the financial records and timely reporting and analysis of the financial position of the company.

The payroll manager is critical to this mission and to the financial and administrative operations of the company. Essential to the position is ensuring accuracy, timeliness and integrity of the weekly payroll calculation process as well as compliance with all federal and state payroll tax and reporting requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Calculate and process hourly and salary payroll batches weekly
  • Process employee expense reimbursements 
  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance deductions and 401(k) deductions
  • Remit garnishments, 401k deposits, & tax payments
  • Reconcile benefit invoices to payroll withholdings from payroll registers
  • Reconcile payroll subsidiary ledger with general ledger monthly; provide reconciliation schedules to accounting management
  • Calculate benefit & 401k liabilities and reconcile to vendor invoices as well as the general ledger
  • Calculate payroll tax liabilities, reconcile payroll tax liabilities to general ledger, and remit returns and payments timely and accurately to appropriate taxing authorities
  • Provide weekly payroll reports/schedules to Controller, adhering to set schedule of reporting requirements
  • Serve as liaison between company and corporate HR department on employee files, benefits, onboarding, etc.
  • Serve as liaison between remote employees and central office staff-project managers, accounting department; is very responsive and proactive
  • Prepares W-2’s and additional year-end information for applicable taxing authorities
  • Monitors existing payroll policies and procedures and participates in updating, revising, and creating new policies and procedures

  • 5+ years of progressive payroll and/or bookkeeping experience
  • Fundamental understand and proven ability to process all items related to and including payroll timely and correctly
