The mission of the Jones Pipeline Services finance team is to be trusted business partners to company operations and company management. This is accomplished by informing, supporting, collaborating and problem solving with our colleagues. Critical to the mission is ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the financial records and timely reporting and analysis of the financial position of the company.

The controller/CFO is critical to this mission due to the fiduciary nature of the position. Essential to the position is the ability to plan, implement, manage and oversee all of the financial activities of the company. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible, either directly or by managing staff, for all cash management, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, helping to drive the company’s financial strategy
  • Provide leadership, direction and oversight of the finance and accounting team
  • Oversight of financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with all applicable financial accounting standards and other relevant regulations 
  • Manage the development of the annual operating and capital plans, forecasts, and reporting against the same
  • Oversight of the preparation of all monthly and annual financial reporting
  • Ensure cash flow is aligned with company operations, by overseeing the day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal control activities of the organization
  • Lead the development and use of best-practice policies, practices, and tools that ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization with strong financial management, project management, cross team communications and workflow
  • Engage finance committee and/or board of directors to develop short term and long term plans, projections and budgets
  • Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local tax laws 
  • Works with the company president and operations management to help analyze, strategize, and grow the financial position of the company
  • Advise on long-term business and financial planning
  • Establish and develop relationships with stakeholders and external partners such as insurance providers and lending and financial institutions
  • Establish and develop relationships with external auditors and tax accountants

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA Required
  • Background in Public Accounting is preferred
  • 5 years minimum experience in a financial management role 
  • 8+ years of accounting or finance experience
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, FASB standards
  • Background coordinating with IT to manage and/or implement accounting systems; systems implementation experience strongly preferred
  • “Hands On” ERP Systems experience is preferred
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and presence – ability to motivate staff
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
