Chief Financial Officer


Overview

The Chief Financial Officer oversees the day to day financial operations and leads the finance department. The CFO reports directly to the President and oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax and treasury.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Model, lead, and advocate the Jones Companies’ core values; seeks ways to integrate values in business dealings and strategies; protect the company’s reputation.
  • Manage financial reporting systems and controls to support company strategies, objectives, and policies and to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for the annual Company Budget and Capital Plan 
  • Timely and accurate budget analysis and financial reporting for the President and Management Team, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization’s needs.
  • Risk management including optimizing insurance coverage and managing relationships with insurance providers.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts.
  • Oversee the financial status of all fixed assets, including assets purchased, leased or acquired by other means. 
  • Ensure all required permits/licenses are up to date and renewed on time (tax certificates, business licenses, etc.)
  • Participate in developing new sources of revenue, specifically: assist the President in identifying new revenue opportunities, drafting of prospective programmatic budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery.
  • Develop and coordinate relationships with lending and financial institutions.
  • Support the negotiation and closing of company’s capital financings.
  • Customer Credit management.
  • Brings plans for operating efficiency to the attention of Management and assists in implementation of developed processes

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience with at least 3 years in a senior management role. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • CPA required.
  • Transportation industry experience preferred. 
  • Strong command of systems and analytical tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems and Great Plains accounting is preferred
  • Self-Motivated, Humble, Team oriented, Highly Moral
