HIGH GAS PRICES FUEL BOOM IN ONLINE CLASSES

Laurel Ranticelli considered driving 40 miles round-trip to take education classes at the University of Massachusetts campus in Amherst. Then she realized she could take the same courses from her computer at home and save on fuel costs.

"It's gotten out of hand, the gas prices," said Ranticelli, 50, who lives in Springfield. "It's $70 a week. That's pretty close to my groceries."

MEDIA GROUP BUYS JONES COMPANIES

Glenn R. Jones has sold his radio-syndication companies to Triton Media Group, an affiliate of private-equity funds managed by Los Angeles-based private equity firm Oaktree Capital Management.

The sale of Jones Media Group and its operating companies, Jones Media America, Jones Radio Networks and Jones, was made by Jones International, a private company owned by Glenn Jones.

Terms were not disclosed.

JONES INTERNATIONAL RADIO UNIT SOLD

Radio-syndication company Jones Media Group—a unit of Jones International Ltd.—has been sold to Triton Media Group as another step in Denver investor Glenn R. Jones' effort to shift his businesses toward education and corporate training.

The transaction closed Friday. Terms were not disclosed.

Centennial-based Jones Media Group syndicates radio programming and services to more than 6,200 U.S. radio stations, the company said in a statement. Its units include Jones Media America, Jones Radio Networks and Jones™.
